What to expect

We’d love for you to join us at one of our Sunday morning services. They have a relaxed and friendly feel and everyone is welcome! The bible is right at the centre of everything we do, and our meetings are shaped around hearing it preached. If you come, you can expect them to last just over an hour and consist of prayer, music, Bible reading, a talk, and an all-age slot.

We love singing and every week our services include a mix of traditional and modern songs/hymns. The sermon lasts for around 25 minutes and is targeted at anyone aged teenage and above. It’s accessible for those who are new to church and will be deep enough for those who have been coming all their life.

We have a Sunday School that runs during term time. This consists of two classes: Sparklers for those aged 3-7 and Ignite for those between 8-11. The classes are a lot of fun and can involve craft, singing, and games, all rooted in great Bible teaching.

After it finishes we all cross the road to enjoy tea, coffee, soft drinks, and cake in our smaller church buidling, or in the garden if the weather is good! If you want to know more please do get in touch.

Where can I park?

We have a very small car park round the back of Hartham Chapel, but it fills up very quickly. There is free parking to be found on Hartham lane but you can also park at Sainsbury’s carpark which is a 2 min walk away and free for two hours on Sundays.

Where is the closest bus stop?

Dimsdale Street Stop is just down the road. The 333 on the Hertford – Bengeo circular stops there at 9:33am and 10:33am on Sundays. Don’t worry if you are a couple minutes late or you can get the early bus and come in and say hello!

What time should I arrive?

The service begins at 10:30am, but feel free to come a few minutes early to meet others and say hello

What should I wear?

There is no dress code, wear whatever you feel comfortable!

Do I need to bring anything?

You don’t need to bring anything else, we will provide Bibles on the door and you can even take it home with you to keep!

Is there disabled access?

There are two disabled parking spaces outside Hartham Chapel, as well as a disabled access ramp into Cowbridge hall, and disabled toilets available.

Do you have provision for the hard of hearing or partially sighted?

We print off song lyrics for the partially sighted on request. We also have large print bibles available

How long will the service be?

We aim to finish the services by 11:45. Our family services are shorter and will usually be done within the hour.

What are the services like?

You can find out more in our Sundays section, or you could watch one of our previous meetings online. You can also catch up on recent sermons on our website.

Can I bring my children?

Of course! We have a number of children regualrly in attendance. We have a crèche area at the back of the hall for toddlers and a Sunday School available for those aged between 3-11.

What do you offer for children?

As mentioned above, we have a Sunday School that runs during term time. This consists of two classes: Sparklers for those aged 3-7 and Ignite for those between 8-11. The classes are a lot of fun and can involve, craft, singing, and games all rooted in great bible teaching, put together by our childrens workers Luke and Esther.
All leaders and helpers are DBS checked.

I’m not sure if I’m a Christian. Can I still come?

Absolutely! You are more than welcome, we love seeing a new face. Our services are accessible to everyone, whether you have never been to church before, or if you’ve been going all your life.

How many people normally come on a Sunday morning?

We usually get between 40 and 50 adults attending regularly, as well as a number of children.

What version of the Bible do you use?

We use the English Standard Version (ESV) translation

What kind of songs do you sing?

We sing a variety of traditional and modern hymns/songs, our main consideration is the lyrics. We want our songs to be rooted in scripture because we see the music as an important part of our services, helping us to worship God and know him better.

What happens after the service?

After the service we walk over to Hartham Chapel where we have a variety of refreshments. We enjoy spending time chatting together, often in the garden if its sunny. Around once a month we have a family lunch together, we’d love for you to join us!
